Dejan Donfrid

Short biography:Dr Dejan Donfrid received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at University School of Dentistry, Belgrade, Serbia in 2003. From 2004-2006 he had additional training in the fields of Oral Surgery at University School of Dentistry, and Maxillofacial Surgery at University Clinical Center Zvezdara in Belgrade. From 2009-2012 he attended the Specialist in Oral Surgery and Implantology program at the University School of Dentistry in Belgrade.He has been working in his private dental clinic in Belgrade, Serbia since 2005.Dr Donfrid's principle areas of expertise and interest are implantology and esthetic dentistry, application of minimally invasive surgical procedures, use of digital dental technologies, advanced bone and soft tissue augmentation and regeneration procedures. He was among the first dentists in the region to receive official certification for several of the most advanced methods and techniques in modern dentistry: Advanced and Injectable Platelet-rich Fibrin (A-PRF / i-PRF), KLS Martin SonicWeld Rx, Digital Smile Design (DSD)...Alongside with his clinical practice and personal continuing education, Dr Dejan Donfrid has been actively transferring his own experience and knowledge to his fellow colleagues. He frequently publishes and presents about his clinical work on significant national and international meetings and congresses, participates in international multi-centric clinical trials, takes active part in organization of dental congresses and meetings. He is an active member in many internationally renowned associations of dental professionals. Dr Dejan Donfrid is the founder and current President of the Center for Education and Promotion of Advanced Dentistry (CAD), national organization that provides educational courses in current and new dental technologies and techniques. Dejan Donfrid enrolled the School of Dentistry at University of Belgrade. He graduated in 2003. and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree. Soon after graduation, Dr Dejan Donfrid started working as a dentist under supervision in private Dental Clinic ORTO, Belgrade. He spent his mandatory year of internship, from 2004 until 2005, practicing in all fields of dentistry at the Clinics of the School of Dentistry, University of Belgrade. It is during this period that Dr Donfrid discovered that the future focus of his interest will become oral surgery and cosmetic dentistry.In 2005. he started his civil military service as a resident clinical doctor at the Department for Maxillofacial Surgery, ENT Clinic, Clinical Medical Center Zvezdara in Belgrade. During his 13 months in service, working full time as an assisting surgeon, he significantly extended his experience in diagnosis of head and neck diseases and conditions, facial trauma management, ostheosynthesis procedures, orthognatic surgery, surgical treatment of face and neck benign tumors and neoplasms.In 2006. Dr Dejan Donfrid passed his Board Certification examination and started working as a dentist in private Dental Clinic ORTO, where here is employed since.In December 2006. Dr Dejan Donfrid enrolled the additional 3 months residency program at Department of Oral Surgery, School of Dentistry, University of Belgrade.During his early years in practice, Dr Dejan Donfrid continued his education by attending and participating numerous national and international courses, seminars and congresses. He became an active member of several internationally renowned professional associations.After completing mandatory two years of clinical practice as a General Dentist, in May 2009. Dr Dejan Donfrid enrolled post-graduate specialist studies in Oral Surgery and Implantology at the Department of Oral Surgery, School of Dentistry, University of Belgrade.During his post-graduate studies, Dr Dejan Donfrid showed great interest in new and developing technologies and techniques, especially in the field of biomaterials and augmentation procedures in implantology. He attended several basic and advanced level implantology courses.In 2010. after attending advanced course in Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) application in dentistry and receiving certification from Dr Joseph Choukroun, Dr Donfrid started the initiative for implementation of this treatment protocol and performed the first surgeries of this kind at the Department of Oral Surgery, School of Dentistry, University of Belgrade.In 2012. Dr Dejan Donfrid attended a course at Dr Gerhard Iglhaut Institute in Germany and became one of the first dentists in Serbia certified for use of the novel SonicWeld Rx augmentation technique by KLS Martin.Together with his enthusiasm for oral surgery and implantology, Dr Dejan Donfrid continued his work and education in the field of dental esthetics as well.In 2013. he attended a course by Dr Christian Coachman and was among the first dentists in the region to receive certification for application of the original Digital Smile Design (DSD) method in his Clinic. He has been an active member of the DSD Team since.Besides his clinical practice and his personal development through continuing education, Dr Dejan Donfrid has shown great interest in transferring knowledge to his fellow colleagues through his organizational and scientific efforts.Dr Donfrid has participated in organization of several dental scientific meetings. Most important were the First International Congress of the Orthodontic Society of Serbia and Montenegro (2003) and Second International Congress of the Orthodontic Society of Serbia and Montenegro (2005).In period from 2009. to 2012. Dr Donfrid actively participated in 4 international multi-centric Phase 2 and Phase 3 clinical trials in the field of General Surgery, as a main study coordinator. For the purpose of these clinical trials, Dr Donfrid traveled to Madrid, Spain where he passed necessary exams and received the Certificate of Good Clinical Practice (GCP).In January 2014. Dr Dejan Donfrid, together with a group of co-workers, founded a non-profit association, Center for Education and Promotion of Advanced Dentistry (CAD). The aim of this organization is to aid dentists from Serbia and region in their effort to gain knowledge of new technologies and techniques in field of dentistry. In the past year the Society successfully organized a course in advanced orthodontic techniques (eCligner System course, lectured by Dr Tae-Weon Kim, Seoul, South Korea) and participated in organization of a course for application of growth factors and advanced biomaterials in oral surgery (Advanced Platelet Rich Fibrin course, lectured by Dr Joseph Choukroun, Nice, France). Dr Dejan Donfrid is currently acting as the President of the Society.Dr Dejan Donfrid has published and/or presented a total of 34 papers, all on significant national and international meetings and congresses - 14 papers as a primary author and on 11 papers as a co-author.
